Emil Roth (art historian)

Emil Roth (born April 10, 1866 in Budweis ; † after 1915 ) was an art historian and, as state lawyer, state councilor of the K. u. K. monarchy.

Life

He graduated from the state high school in Budweis and then from the University of Vienna in the legal subject. For ten years he worked in the political administration in the external service, then in the central office. In 1911 he retired as a state councilor. Long trips to Germany, France, Italy and Greece formed the basis for another further study - from 1912 onwards, art history in Munich at the Kgl. Ludwig Maximilians University a. a. with Paul Wolters and Heinrich Wölfflin . He received his doctorate in 1915. phil. with a theme of the Italian Renaissance by Heinrich Wölfflin.
