Emilienbrunnen 2018

The Emilienbrunnen is a fountain on Schlossstrasse in Bensberg . It bears the name of the founder Emilie Schmitz and was built at the end of the 19th century by the Bensberg Beautification Association as recognition and thanks for their generous donations, which benefited the former community of Bensberg .

For some time now, the city of Bergisch Gladbach has been planning to redesign the city center of Bensberg in the area of Schlossstrasse. The area around the Emilienbrunnen is particularly affected. In this case another place would have to be found for the well. The plans are viewed critically in public. The Bergisches Geschichtsverein vehemently rejects a relocation. It remains to be seen which solution will be found for the future. A revised draft stipulates that the Emilienbrunnen with the coral wall will be moved five meters backwards.
