Emilio Sosa Gaona

Emilio Sosa Gaona SDB (born September 28, 1884 in Santissima Assunzione , † March 24, 1970 ) was a Paraguayan religious priest and Roman Catholic bishop .

Life

After joining the religious order of the Salesians of Don Bosco and completing his philosophical and theological studies, he was ordained a priest on January 28, 1912 . He was the first Paraguayan student, Salesian, and missionary. For many years he worked as a missionary to the Indians of Gran Chaco .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on April 30, 1931 first bishop of May 1, 1929 created Diocese of Concepción y Chaco . On May 15, 1932, the episcopal ordination took place by Archbishop Sinforiano Bogarín and the co-consecrators Pedro Dionisio Tibiletti , Fortunado Devoto and Julián Pedro Martínez . On June 2, 1932, he took possession of the diocese.

On May 14, 1963, he resigned from office for health reasons. He was appointed titular bishop of Sergentza for the time as bishop emeritus . He attended the first four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
