Emmanuel Lafarge

Emmanuel Lafarge (* 1862 ; † 1911 ) was a French opera singer (tenor).

Lafarge studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and made his debut at the Rouen Opera in 1889. There he sang Samson in the French premiere of Camille Saint-Saëns ' opera Samson et Dalila in 1890 . From 1890 to 1892 he was engaged at the Theater de la Monnaie in Brussels, then at the Lyon Opera. In the 1894–95 season he sang again Samson in Samson et Dalila at La Scala in Milan , as well as the title role in Ernest Reyer's opera Sigurd . In 1896 he appeared again as Samson at the Paris Opera . In France he was best known as a Wagner interpreter. Some photos of him on Lioret cylinders from around 1900 have been preserved.
