Emmanuel des Essarts

Emmanuel des Essarts (* 1839 ; † 1909 ) was a French writer.

Des Essarts was a son of Alfred des Essarts , who was the librarian who looked after the treasures of the Sainte-Geneviève library . At the end of his school days, Des Essarts made friends with Jean Lahor , Eugène Lefébure and Stéphane Mallarmé . Together with these friends he became enthusiastic about modern, avant-garde literature (including Charles Baudelaire's " Les Fleurs du Mal "). Later she was counted - also Des Essat's father - to the Parnassian circle .

As a professor of rhetoric, Des Essarts later worked at the “Lycée Imperial” in Avignon , where he made the acquaintance of Frédéric Mistral and his group, des Félibrige .
