Emmeniden

The Emmenids were a family of rulers or tyrants of the 5th century BC. In ancient Akragas in Sicily .

They include:

  • Theron (approx. 488–473 / 472 BC), who together with Gelon 480 BC At Himera defeated the Carthaginians, and
  • Thrasydaios (473 / 472–472 BC), a son of Theron, who lived in 472 BC. Was defeated and driven out by Hieron I.
