Empan

Empan (l'Empan), the foot or the span / span, was a measure of length in the French administered Puducherry in southern India , but also in the motherland France . Here the measure in the area around Toulouse was divided into

• 8 Empana / Pans = 1 Canna = 8 inches / Pouces = 96 lines / Lignes = 1.78 meters

In South India was the measure

• 1 empan = 12 fingers = 115.2 Parisian lines = 0.2599 meters
• 2 empan = 1 coupon / cubit
• 4 Empan = 1 Astame / Göß
• 8 empan = 1 vilcadé
