Empar Moliner (born December 16, 1966 in Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana , Barcelona province ) is a Spanish writer of Catalan descent.

Life

She works as a freelancer for Catalunya Ràdio , the daily Ara and various television programs. Her newspaper chronicles, written in the same vicious style as short stories, were published in two anthologies. The first, Busco senyor per a amistat i el que sorgeixi (Looking for a gentleman for friendship and more, 2005), contains forty chronicles that tell stories such as visiting the fortune-teller to find out the chances of survival of the Catalan language and going to a monastery , where South American maids are rented out, or a midday visit to a poor food distribution center. The second volume, entitled Desitja guardar els canvis? (Would you like to save the changes ?, 2006) contains a selection of the best articles, with a keen eye and full of joie de vivre, located halfway between chronicle and narrative, where Empar Moliner, unaffected by the adversities or absurdities of everyday life, proves that humor is the best antidote to discomfort. In 2000 she was awarded the Josep Pla Prize for Feli, esthéticienne (Salon Feli), a novel about passion, and shortly afterwards she received the Lletra d'Or Prize 2004 for T'estimo si he begut (I love you, when I'm drunk), thirteen stories about modern life, funny and bitter at the same time, written in a rigorous but relaxed style that the critics described as "turbulent, fresh and imaginative". In 2012 she published the novel La collaboradora (The Employee).
