The recommendations for the construction of main roads ( EAHV for short ) were a technical set of rules valid in Germany for the planning and construction of main roads of road categories B III, C I-III, D I-III and E I-III (according to RAS-N ).

The EAHV was published by the Research Association for Roads and Transport in Cologne and replaced in 2007 by the guidelines for the construction of city roads (RASt for short). The RASt also replaced the EAE ( recommendations for the construction of access roads ).

content

The content of the EAHV is divided into five sections. The scope is defined in the introduction. Section one provides information on the general objectives and principles. Major roads in the community as a whole are explained in the second section. Section three deals with the basics for the design of street spaces , a detailed examination of the street space design is then given in section four. The last section gives design and layout examples.
