content

The RASt is divided into seven sections. After an introduction to the scope and structure of the guidelines, the first section contains the goals and principles for planning and designing city streets. These are based on the habitability and functionality of cities and municipalities and should take into account the different usage demands of road users on the road space. The second section describes the different city streets according to traffic and urban development features, such as their development function and the character of the surrounding area . Sections three and four deal with the design methodology and the demands on the use of street space by local public transport as well as flowing and stationary traffic with motor vehicles. Section five recommends solutions for typical design situations, section six contains the individual design elements for structural traffic management, such as trafficability and visibility at intersections that require certain visual triangles . Section seven deals with the technical equipment and green in the street space.
