Peter Honnen (* 1954 in Rheinhausen ) is a German linguist and specialist in the languages ​​of the Rhineland .

Life

He studied linguistics and history in Bonn . He lives with his wife in the southern part of Bonn.

Peter Honnen has been working for years as a research assistant and speaker in the language research department at the LVR Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History (formerly: Office for Rhenish Regional Studies - ARL) in the Bonn district of Endenich . It is a subdivision of the Rhineland Regional Association (LVR), whose headquarters are in Cologne - Deutz . Peter Honnen is the author or co-author of numerous books and magazine articles on Regiolect , the dialects , linguistic islands and special languages , the Rotwelschen languages ​​and Yiddish in the Rhineland. In the 1980s, he contributed to the development of the Rheinische Dokumenta , a simple phonetic transcription for the local languages ​​of the other regions from the Lower Rhine to the southern Palatinate .
