The Emsland Hillbillies are a country band from Aschendorf in Emsland , which was founded in 1973 by Hermann Lammers Meyer and still exists today.

In the 1970s, the band proved to be a career forge for some of the now well-known former band members. These were, among others, until 1975 Carl Carlton (guitar, vocals, drums), from 1975 to 1976 Kralle Krawinkel , the later guitarist of the band Trio (vocals, guitar), until 1977 Horst Bösing (piano, keyboard), Detlef Wiedeke (guitar, Drums, choir), which gave the band a more rocky style in the mid-seventies. Later, under Hermann Lammers Meyer and from 1976 to 1986 under Ulli Möhring , the band oriented itself more towards traditional country and the American outlaw movement around Willie Nelson .

The English term hillbilly means hillbilly .
