Life

After graduating from high school in 1906, he immediately began his studies and was ordained a priest in 1910. He held his first office as a chaplain in the Trier parish of St. Antonius. From 1916 he worked in Hühnerfeld (Saar), but in 1928 he returned to Trier, the “city of his heart”. After initially working as a parish vicar , he took over the Christkönig parish in Trier-West in 1942, which with 9,000 people was the largest in the city and had a very difficult social structure. Extreme poverty in particular was a major challenge. His organizational talent was expressed in his participation in many committees. In 1952 he became city dean. One of the most important measures is the establishment of social institutions such as B. a kindergarten. In addition, he reorganized the boundaries of the parishes, which was made necessary by the reconstruction after the Second World War . In 1960 he was honored with the Great Federal Cross of Merit for his extraordinary commitment as the “Angel of Christ the King” .
