Engelbert III. (Brienne)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Engelbert III. († before December 28, 1035) was a Count of Brienne from the House of Brienne .

Engelbert III. and his brother Guido (Ingelberti comitis, fratrisque ejus Widonis) served as witnesses in a document of the abbot Dudon of Montier-en-Der dated between the years 1027 and 1031 . In another document from the same abbot, Engelbert is named as Stephen of Joinville's brother-in-law , which means that he and Guido were probably sons of Engelbert II. Her mother is named in a genealogical treatise on the Count's House of Anjou from the early 12th century, a woman named Wandalmodis, who was descended from the von Salins family on her mother's side.

By December 28, 1035 at the latest, Engelbert III. died, as Walter I first appeared as Count von Brienne on that date .
