Engin Atsür (born April 2, 1984 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish national basketball player in the position of point guard who has been playing for the German basketball club Alba Berlin since 2016 .

Career

The son of a German mother and a Turkish father, attended the French Saint-Benoit-Gymnasium in Istanbul and started basketball at Club Efes Pilsen Istanbul. He played college basketball in the United States at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for North Carolina State University from 2003 to 2007, where he completed his business studies. At North Carolina State University he was the 33rd player with more than 1000 points, he scored 1181 points. He was also the second best three-point shooter at the university, fourth best in minutes played (3,838 min-119 games, 32.3 minutes per game) and scored 9.9 PPG.

At the European Championships for Juniors in Germany in 2002, Atsür played with an average of 22.3 points per game and was selected as the best shooting guard in the All-Tournament First Team of the tournament. Since the 2006 World Championships in Japan, he has been a regular for the Turkish national team.

Atsür signed his first professional contract with the Italian club Benetton Treviso on June 30, 2007. After a season in Italy, he moved to Efes Pilsen Istanbul. For the 2009/10 season Atsür moved to Besiktas Istanbul. After a season at Besiktas, he was hired by the Turkish champion Fenerbahçe Ülker for the 2010/2011 season. In the 2012-2013 season, Atsür moved to Galatasaray Istanbul and in 2013 became champion of the Turkish league with his new team. For the 2016/17 season Atsür moved to the basketball league at Alba Berlin.
