Engrenages is a French crime and justice series produced by Son et Lumière for Canal + TV channel . Five seasons have been broadcast since 2005.
Meaning of the original title and title of the German versions
The French word "Engrenages" has different meanings, for example gear, linkage and gear train. When the series was broadcast for the first time by the German broadcaster Einsplus , it ran under the title Engrenages . The analogous meaning would be: Engrenages - in the machinery of justice. Or to use an expression that is more common in German: Engrenages - in the mills of justice. The series ran under the name Spiral on the British broadcaster BBC4 , and when Einsplus later re-aired the series, both the English and French titles were tied to, because now they were given the name Spiral - Engrenages . At Einsplus, the first four seasons have so far been shown as the original with German subtitles .
The Pay TV transmitter Sony Entertainment Television was to establish a dubbed version, which from autumn 2015 under the title Engrenages - In the crosshairs of the judiciary has been sent.
7 seasons were broadcast up to March 11, 2019 and are now available on DVD and BluRay. An eighth season has been in production since April 2019.
