Bottleneck signaling

Bottleneck signaling at a workplace

A bottleneck signaling system consists of a transportable traffic light system in the area of a work station , which ensures that flowing traffic can pass through. It is used when only one lane is available for both directions.

If the bottleneck is short (less than 50 m), the visibility is sufficient or the traffic volume is low (up to 500 vehicles / h), there is no need for bottleneck signaling. Alternatively, priority control can then be arranged with the aid of traffic signs .
