Characteristic

Since it was founded in 1993, the Ensemble Weser-Renaissance Bremen has developed into an ensemble for the music of the 16th and 17th centuries. It is now a regular guest at important European festivals for early music and has repeatedly recorded newly discovered music from the Renaissance and early Baroque periods; these were positively received by the musical world.

The ensemble is geared towards the best possible representation of the respective repertoire and therefore variable in its line-up. In addition to international vocal soloists, highly specialized instrumentalists for the original instruments of the respective era are required. The aim is to reproduce works from the 16th and 17th centuries in a lively and stylistically correct manner. In addition to the performances of Italian, Flemish , English and Central German composers, particular attention is paid to northern German music.

The head of the ensemble, founded in 1993, is Manfred Cordes , professor at the Bremen University of the Arts .
