De-iced water

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

De- ironed water is mineral water from which iron has been extracted. The term de-iced water is mainly found on mineral water bottles. The iron is removed from the mineral water for aesthetic reasons. To remove iron mineral water is by venting oxygen supplied, so that iron (II) - ions to iron (III) ions oxidizes be. The iron is thereby precipitated as a brownish precipitate and then separated off by filtration. This prevents the drink from turning brown later due to slow oxidation.

Systems for iron removal and manganese removal are also used in the private sector or in agriculture. In water treatment plants such as B. gravel filters or ion exchangers , oxygen is added to the water, which favors the secretion of iron or manganese . The filters are rinsed free of iron and manganese residues via regular backwashing processes.

The consonance of the words de-icing ( past participle of the verb de-ironing ) and de-icing ( present participle of the verb de-icing ) occasionally leads to confusion. De-ironing the present participle is de-ironing .
