A enthesopathy (of gr enthesis (ἔνθεσις) approach and gr páthos (πάθος) sufferings.. Syn .: enthesopathy, enthesitis) is a group of pathological disorders usually joints near the tendon attachment points .

Examples

A well-known enthesopathy is the so-called tennis elbow . It is usually painful and associated with non-bacterial (aseptic) inflammation . Enthesopathy can be recognized as an early sign of ankylosing spondylitis and the comparatively harmless Forestier's disease on simple X-rays . A common secondary finding are enthesiopathische extractions on the lower edge of the seat leg . They have no disease value, but show the patient's disposition.

Enthesiopathic ossification of the soft tissues of the sternoclavicular joints is not so rare, but unknown and misunderstood .

treatment

Treatment depends on the location and severity of the disease. Many different procedures are used, from simple restraint to physiotherapy / physiotherapy measures, local injections with local anesthetics - often combined with corticoids - to surgical measures.
