Enzootia is the name given to the local limitation of an animal disease or infectious disease in animals such as rabies , anthrax or enzootic hemorrhage in deer . The term is used in veterinary medicine analogously to the human medical term endemic . The region in which such an infectious disease occurs to a limited extent is called the enzootic area .

The term enzootic or enzooticus denotes the constant or frequently recurring occurrence of an infectious disease in certain areas, stocks or locations.
