An Attic vase painter of the black-figure style is known as an Epitimos painter . He was in the middle of the 6th century BC. Active in Athens and is one of the minor masters .

The Epitimos painter is named with an emergency name after the potter Epitimos , whose three signed bowls were all painted by him.

  • Copenhagen, National Museum 13966
  • New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art 25.78.4
  • Malibu, J. Paul Getty Museum 86.AE.157

Two more unsigned bowls can be assigned to this painter for stylistic reasons:

  • Rim bowl Karlsruhe, Badisches Landesmuseum 69/61
  • Band shell Atlanta, Michael C. Carlos Museum 1990.4.1

He likes to decorate the lip of the bowls on both sides with the heads of gods.

It has always been assumed that this painter belongs to the vicinity of Lydos , but Michalis Tiverios was able to show, for stylistic reasons, that the Epitimos painter is identical to the late Lydos.
