Equimanthorn is a former American and now multinational experimental dark ambient / ritual industrial project.
history
The project was founded in 1992 by members of the Texan band Absu . In the same year, she recorded her first cassette, Entrance to the Ancient Flame , for which there was no rehearsal, the music and lyrics were instead improvised. This was followed by the tape An Evening of Blasphemous Moon Worship and in December 1992 Equimanthorn's first live performance. For the CD / Picture LP Nindinugga Nimshimshargal Enlillara , published in 1994 , the texts were written in advance; This also included Vorskaath Necroslaughter from the Greek band Zemial , who had become a full member of the project. During its existence, other musicians with occult interests also worked on the project, who also play in other bands and projects such as The Soil Bleeds Black , Melechesh , Eldar, Blutuchte and Black Seas of Infinity.
style
In their own opinion, the project exceeds the limits of a category for its form of occult ambient music. It describes its stylistic elements as ritualistic, mysterious, exquisite and spooky and the result as the “ultimate soundtrack” for Sumerian fables. According to its own admission, the project expresses emotional pain and deceptive pleasure through experimental and booming ceremonial performances. The lyrics of the first cassette deal with spiritual invocations , emotional pain, hatred and moon worship. Equitant also described the performance in December 1992 as "a night of neo-pagan moon worship". Equitant stated to the Horns that he did not worship any gods or similar beings, only himself, the earth and the moon.
