The Erakond Party of Estonian Christian Democrats - EKD ( German Party Christian Democrats Estonia ) is a value-conservative center-right - Minor party on a Christian foundation in Estonia .

The party was founded in 1998. From 1998 to March 2006 it was called Eesti Kristlik Rahvapartei - EKRP ("Christian People's Party of Estonia") before it adopted its current name.

Until 2008 the businessman Aldo Vinkel was chairman of the EKD. Peeter Võsu has been leading the party since 2008.

Politically, the EKD is marginal. In the elections to the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ) she received between 2.4% ( 1999 ) and 0.5% ( 2011 ) of the vote. At the 2004 European elections and the general election in 2015 it did not participate.

The party pursues its political goals on the basis of Christian values . She advocates a close political, economic and military partnership with Israel . The EKD is strongly Eurosceptic and was against Estonia joining the European Union . In its basic program, the party advocates stronger support for families, a high birth rate and a ban on abortions .
