The hereditary burial of the Bohm family is a mausoleum-like tomb in the Evangelical Cemetery Fredersdorf-Süd . Since 2010 it has been a monument of the state of Brandenburg . From an artistic and architectural point of view, it is an outstanding example of grave architecture in the region from the late 19th century.

history

After the 72-year-old factory owner and entrepreneur Carl Gottlob Bohm died in 1883 , his sons Paul and Otto commissioned a grave to be built to commemorate the largest employer in the then independent village of Fredersdorf, now Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf , and his family. This building was placed at the end of the small avenue of linden trees leading from the entrance to the cemetery chapel , which ended halfway between the two fixed points. The character of the cemetery was massively changed, which is why there was a long argument with the landowner Verdries. Until then, there had only been smaller graves and larger hereditary burials on the north-east and north-west walls, and the direct route between the entrance and the chapel was blocked. After lengthy negotiations a settlement was reached.

Since the beginning of 2010 the tomb including the lime tree avenue and cemetery chapel has been a listed building.

While the parish to which the cemetery is subordinate was able to raise the money to renovate the much-used chapel, there are currently no funds available to repair the grave structure. Access to the tomb is blocked for structural reasons.

description

Rear view with memorial stone for Otto Bohm.

The red Swedish granite building is shaped like a domed semicircle. The side boundaries form six columns, four round ones in a Doric order , the two front ones square. They stand on a continuous column base, which is closed at the top by a cornice , only two smaller obelisks follow above the two front columns . On the inside is the name of the owner and user in golden capital letters: the Bohm family . The entire building stands on a burial mound, an eight-step flight of stairs leads to the burial building. The smooth surface is due to the use of the machines manufactured in the Bohm factory for marble polishing.

Inside there are two coffins and eight urns. At the back there is another memorial stone for Otto Bohm, and the rear area is enclosed with a wrought iron fence.
