Eric Ewazen
Eric Ewazen (* 1954 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American composer .
Life
Ewazen studied at the Eastman School of Music and Juilliard School in New York. His teachers include Milton Babbitt , Warren Benson , Samuel Adler , Joseph Schwantner , Eugene Kurtz, and Gunther Schuller . He has taught with the New York Philharmonic's Musical Encounters Series, was vice-president of the League of Composers of the International Society for New Music and composer in residence with the Orchestra of St. Luke's in New York. He also worked at the Hebrew School of the Arts and Lincoln Center . Since 1980 he has been a lecturer at the Juilliard School. His music has been performed by numerous orchestras a. a. the Cleveland Orchestra and appeared with Boosey & Hawkes .
