Eric Franklin

Eric Franklin (born February 28, 1957 ) is a Swiss sports scientist, dancer, choreographer and movement teacher.

He founded the Franklin Method and is recognized worldwide as an expert in imaginative movement education and Dynamic Neurocognitive Imagery (NDI). He lives in Wetzikon , Switzerland. The qualified sports teacher, Bachelor of Fine Arts, author and university lecturer is a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS). Eric Franklin was the world's first dance therapist to teach in China.

Career

Eric Franklin has been studying sport at the ETH Zurich since 1976 , after graduating in 1979 he moved to the Tisch School of the Arts in New York, where he learned dance. In 1982 he finished his studies and since 1980 has worked in many dance and theater productions in Europe and the USA. For example, he danced with the Kelly Dance Company and was a choreographer at the American Dance Festival . During his studies, Eric Franklin dealt with dance imagination, especially with the ideokinesis of Mabel Todd . He deepened and expanded this knowledge with his own ideas, and later began to convey it to dancers, top athletes, trainers and movement teachers, among others. In 1992, Eric Franklin founded the Institute for the Franklin Method in Switzerland. He also initiated training as a movement educator for the Franklin method and as a Franklin method therapist.

Books

In 1984 Eric Franklin's first work Breakdance was published . He co-wrote it with William H. Watkins. Today he is the author of 14 other books, in English and / or in German. Breakdance is the first book in the history of dance literature to deal with mental training in dancing, while Conditioning for Dance is the first book on strength training for dancers.
