Eric Varley
Eric Graham Varley, Baron Varley PC (born August 11, 1932 in Poolsbrook , † July 29, 2008 ) was a British politician ( Labor Party ).
Career
Varley was a member of the House of Commons for the Chesterfield constituency from 1964 to 1984 . From March 5, 1974 to June 10, 1975 he was Minister of Energy and from June 10, 1975 to May 4, 1979 Minister of Economic Affairs. From 1981 to 1983 he was Treasurer of the Labor Party. On May 30, 1990, he was raised to Life Peer as Baron Varley , of Chesterfield in the County of Derbyshire . He died of cancer on July 29, 2008 at the age of 75.
