Erich Brose

Erich Brose (born February 8, 1894 in Klein Ottersleben ; † August 31, 1974 ) was a local researcher and educator.

Life

Brose was born as the son of the businessman Karl Brose and his wife Emma, ​​nee. Jasper, born. First he graduated from school in Sudenburg and then attended the teachers' seminar in Genthin . His first job as a teacher was at the village school in Klein Mangelsdorf .

During the First World War he was a soldier on the German side and was seriously wounded in 1917. In 1919 he got a permanent job at the school of Klein Ottersleben, which he held for more than four decades. In 1945 he also taught Russian , which he had acquired himself, under the most difficult conditions such as large class sizes and a lack of teaching material .

He gained importance as a local researcher. He took part in the preparations for the 1000th anniversary of Ottersleben in 1937. Brose worked as a local chronicle and in 1953 published a chronicle of Ottersleben . He also wrote a school chronicle of Ottersleben. He also carried out studies on geology and prehistoric finds in the Magdeburg region .

He died in 1974 and was buried in the Klein Ottersleben cemetery. His grandson is the religious philosopher Thomas Brose .

Honor

In 2000, the city council of Magdeburg named a street in what is now the Ottersleben district in his honor as Erich-Brose-Weg .
