Erich Krempel
Erich Krempel (born August 18, 1913 in Suhl ; † September 26, 1992 ) was a German sports shooter .
Krempel won a silver medal in shooting with the free pistol behind the Swede Torsten Ullman at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin . As early as 1935 he had taken second place in the world championship behind Ullman. In 1939, Krempel won the world title ahead of Ullman.
Krempel can be seen as an athlete in the second part of Leni Riefenstahl's multiple award-winning film about the 1936 Summer Games.
The Zella-Mehlis shooting association organizes an annual tournament for the Erich-Krempel Memorial Cup in his honor. There is an Erich-Krempel-Straße in Suhl .
