Erich Valentin (politician)

Erich Valentin (born August 25, 1960 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Since 1999 he has been a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

education and profession

Erich Valentin attended the elementary school Leystraße in Brigittenau between 1966 and 1970 and then graduated from the secondary school in Glasergasse ( Alsergrund ). He then moved to the upper level high school Hegelgasse in the 1st district of Vienna, where he graduated in 1978. Valentin then studied medicine until 1985. From 1978 to 1985, during his studies, Valentin was a research assistant at the documentation archive of the Austrian Resistance . He also worked in the tourism sector. From 1985 to 1996, Valentin worked full-time as District Secretary of the SPÖ Brigittenau. Since 1997 he has been responsible for public relations and press work for the SPÖ Brigittenau.

Valentin has been involved in communications management since 1993 and founded Damm Werbung Werbeges.mbH in 1994 with his wife. From 1997 to 1999 he was also the managing director there.

politics

Erich Valentin became involved in the young generation (JG) Brigittenau from 1977 and was district chairman of the JG between 1978 and 1985. Valentin also worked in an SPÖ section in Brigittenau, was deputy section chairman from 1979 and has been section chairman since 1991. Valentin was also district secretary from 1985 to 1996.

Erich Valentin was elected to the district council in 1983 and moved to the Vienna state parliament and local council in 1994, where he was a member of the Environment and Transport Committee. In 1996 he left the state parliament, in 1999 he moved back to the Vienna state parliament and local council. In the 18th legislative period he is a member of the “Urban Development and Transport” committee.

Private

Valentin was born as the son of the commercial employee Gerda Valentin (née Gerschpacher) and the commercial agent Erich Valentin. He has been married since 1989.
