Erik Steinbrecher

Erik Steinbrecher (* 1963 in Basel ) is a Swiss artist. His works include works in public spaces, sculptures, photo installations, video, graphics and artist books .

Life

Steinbrecher studied art and history in Basel and architecture in Zurich. In 2006 Steinbrecher was visiting professor at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Since 2008 he has been teaching at the Zurich University of the Arts and lives in Berlin .

Erik Steinbrecher is the father of two children.

Steinbrecher's printed matter is always independent works of art, not reproductions of works of art or books about art. Its fascination is due to the special, sensual materiality and the special spatiality of the book given by the sequence of pages.

Steinbrecher was a participant in documenta X 1997.
