Front and back (bottom)

The commemorative cross for the 1870/71 campaign was donated by Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden on June 25, 1871 . It could be awarded to women and men alike who had made a name for themselves during the Franco-German War by caring for the wounded and sick, caring for the troops and supporting the families of the reservists and militants who were called up for service .

The order is similar to the Iron Cross , but there is a medallion in the middle of the cross , on the front of which the Geneva Cross can be seen and on the back the initials of the founder, which is surmounted by the grand ducal crown. The dates 1870 and 1871 are depicted on the cross arms on the side, the Baden crown on the upper cross arm and Baden's coat of arms on the lower one .

The ribbon is light yellow with red and outside white stripes.

The award was worn on the ribbon on the left chest.
