Commemorative medal for the 1849 campaign

The commemorative medal for participating in the 1849 campaign was donated on April 17, 1874 by Duke Ernst I of Saxony-Altenburg . It could be awarded to all participants of the Sachsen-Altenburg troops who took part in the storming of the Düppeler Schanze on April 13, 1849 in the Danish-German war and who had earned the leadership.

The bronze medal shows two entwined E (Ernst) on the obverse . Above it the ducal crown . The year 1849 is enclosed by a laurel wreath on the reverse .

The ribbon is dark green with two white side stripes.
