Tenala ( Swedish ), in Finnish Tenhola , is a place and a former municipality in the Finnish countryside of Uusimaa . Administratively, Tenala belongs to the city of Raseborg .

Tenala is about twelve kilometers northwest of the city center of Ekenäs on the main road 52 to Perniö . The main attraction of the place is the church of Tenala , a medieval stone church from the 15th century. The parish of Tenala belongs to the Borgå diocese and has almost 2,100 members.

Tenala was first mentioned in 1329, but it is likely to have existed as a parish since the early 13th century . The municipality Tenala included besides the namesake Kirchdorf a number of villages in the area. In 1977, Tenala was attached to a large part of the disbanded municipality of Bromarv . Most recently, the municipality of Tenala had an area of ​​443.6 km² and almost 3,000 inhabitants (87% of them Finland-Sweden ). In 1993 Tenala was incorporated into the city of Ekenäs. Together with this Tenala became part of the newly founded town of Raseborg in 2009 .
