from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A nutrition team is a medical nutrition team in a hospital . It is an interdisciplinary working group set up by the prison management that reports to the hospital pharmacy about the constant use of medical nutritional regulations ( medication ). The interdisciplinary team is the contact person for the hospital management, the drug commission and for the departments and wards in the event of nutritional problems.

BMI table

The nutrition team tells hospital staff and departments under which indications certain nutritional concepts are available and should be used in-house. The team consists of a doctor , pharmacist , dietician and one person with a nursing diploma .

target

The aim is to develop, analyze and introduce nutritional-specific standards (plus documentation ) including nutritional screening with the aim of improving the outcome for the patient. The nutrition team is responsible for the internal publication of specialist information.

Nutrition teams play a special role in the implementation of artificial nutrition in the clinic. Such teams are to optimize nutritional therapy and reduce the complication rate when performing nutritional interventions.

Malnutrition screening

A screening is a process for screening.
In particular, it should be validly determined in hospitalized patients whether and to what extent there is a state of malnutrition. Components:

  • BMI (results from height and weight)
  • Changes in weight (over a period of e.g. 3 months).

The screening must lead to defined action steps.
Malnutrition screening reduces the complications, length of stay, morbidity and mortality of hospitalized patients, as well as hospital costs.
