Erna Brell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Erna Brell (* unknown) is a German table tennis player . In 1957 she won the German championship in singles.

Erna Brell was a defender. She first played for the TG Bockenheim club before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt around 1950 . Here she won the German women's team championship four times, namely in 1951, 1952, 1957 and 1959; in the 1958 finals she had to sit out in favor of younger players. In 1955 and 1956 she was Hessen champion in singles and doubles, and again in doubles in 1957. In 1954 she went to the TG Bockenheim club, where she stayed until 1956, when she returned to Eintracht Frankfurt.

At the German championship in Berlin in 1957, Brell was - surprisingly for the professional world - German individual champion. In the final she won against Hannelore Schlaf by showing her attacking abilities in addition to a solid defensive game at the right moment. Because of this success Brell was nominated for participation in the individual competitions of the 1957 World Cup . For health reasons, she renounced both the World Cup and the title defense at the German championship in 1958.

In 1957 Erna Brell was ranked third in the DTTB ranking.

She is married.
