Ernesto Mallo

Ernesto Mallo (born August 16, 1948 in La Plata ) is an Argentine writer , screenwriter and journalist . Two of his books have so far been translated into German, French and English. After a few short stories, he wrote his first crime novel, Der Tote von der Plaza Once, in 2006, with which he created the character of Comisario Lascano, who then became the focus of further books. The books with Comisario Lascano are set in the time of the military dictatorship or shortly afterwards.

Life

During the times of the Argentine military dictatorship under General Videla, Mallo was a member of the Argentine Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias , named after the armed forces of socialist Cuba and lived as an active opponent and persecuted of the military dictatorship in the underground. Mallo lives and works in Buenos Aires . He has been married several times and has six children.

Awards

The Dead from Plaza Once was recognized as the best crime novel at the Semana Negra in Gijón , the largest festival for crime literature, and received the Clarín Literature Prize.
