history

Ernst Braune (1853-1942) was a Radeberg city councilor ( SPD ) and in 1912/13 a co-founder of the non-profit building cooperative Radeberg (predecessor of today's housing cooperative Radeberg and the surrounding area ). In 1913 the cooperative began building the first workers' houses for a new settlement on the western outskirts of Radeberg. After the First World War , further residential buildings, mostly terraced and multi-family houses, were built. The settlement was given the character of a garden city . The resulting settlement was named after him in honor of Ernst Braun, and a street in the settlement also bears his name.
