Ernest Hello

Ernst Hello , also Ernest Hello , (born November 4, 1828 in Lorient , France, † July 14, 1885 ibid) was a French writer and philosopher .

Life

Ernest Hello first studied law and then theology as an autodidact. His work is shaped by the Roman Catholic faith and an almost mystical piety: Hellos first book Renan, l'Allemagne et l'Atheisme au XIX Siècle (1858) was an apologetic rejection of Ernest Renan's Études d'histoire religieuse . He later translated the works of the mystics Angela von Foligno and Jan van Ruysbroek . L 'homme is considered his main philosophical work.

The attempt by a Catholic daily failed after two years due to disputes between the editors.

Hello's works are currently being reissued in English translation.
