Ernst Löschner (bank manager)

Ernst Löschner (born May 20, 1943 in Schwarzach im Pongau ) is a former Austrian bank director who has been active in social and refugee aid since 2007.

Career

Löschner spent the first 13 years of his life in Zell am See, later in Salzburg. He received his education at the University of Vienna (graduation with Dr. jur.), The Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna (economics) and the Harvard Business School, Boston (finance). After completing his studies in Vienna, he lived in the USA from 1969 to 1976. From 1970 to 2010 he held leading positions in multinational, national and international financial institutions, beginning with the World Bank (1970-1976), with the Austrian Control Bank (1976-1985), with the Länderbank / Bank Austria (1985-1992) and finally in the major French bank BNP Paribas (1993–2010).

He is the author of publications and monographs, particularly in the fields of international capital markets, economic forecasts, export promotion and financing and global debt, including the book “Sovereign Risks and International Debt” published by Manz Verlag in 1983.

Löschner has been married to Waltraud Löschner since 1968; he has three daughters and one son. Löschner has lived with his family in Vienna and Maria Alm (Salzburg) since 1976.

Founding of Alpine Peace Crossing (2007)

  • Establishment of the annual APC peace hike and the Krimml Peace Dialog with now over 5,000 participants
  • New founding of APC as a non-profit association for social and refugee aid (2011) and distributions of approx. € 700,000 for social projects.
  • Development (together with Hans Nerbl) of the "Nationalpark-APC-Friedensweg": 7 trilingual memorial plaques along the historical escape route of the Jewish exodus of 1947 (2013).
  • Conception and implementation (together with Hans Nerbl) of music connects with 30 events in Salzburg (2016), including drum workshops with children.
  • Conception and construction of the Grove of Flight: 7x7 trees, 2 natural stones, 1 prism as a spiritual place of hope, dedicated to all refugees worldwide (2017).
  • Development of the social innovations "At home - deposit guarantees for refugees" and "We give - donations in kind for jobs" (2017/18) with the aim of making 100 apartments possible for refugee families and jobs for job seekers, etc. a. for the long-term unemployed.

Löschner is the initiator of the petition to the Austrian federal government and parliament, supported by 15 organizations, “Against Inhumanity. For a human refugee policy ”(2013). The petition, which Löschner published together with Michael Kerbler, was signed by over 30,000 people online and supported by 300 public figures with personal quotes.
