history

The company was founded in 1903 by Ernst Marti as a trading company. The company's first activities included the import of seeds, trading in agricultural products, vehicles and real estate.

In 1920 Marti organized the first coach trip with a truck of the Vomag brand that he had converted himself into a car and invited his employees and the construction workers involved in the construction of his new garage to a trip to Kandersteg. From 1922 Marti began to operate Carreisen commercially and thus became a pioneer of cartourism. As a result, a rapidly growing range of trips to Europe, Asia and Africa developed. In 1948 the sole proprietorship was converted into a stock corporation.

After the turn of the millennium, the company focused on the core business of car and group travel, while the freight transport and travel agency chains were spun off into affiliated companies and later sold.

In February 2006 Ernst Marti AG moved into its new administration building with a passenger lounge and a modern car terminal in Kallnach.
