Ernst Rojahn

Ernst Andreas Rojahn (born August 13, 1909 in Tønsberg ; † July 24, 1977 there ) was a Norwegian chess player .

He was able to win the Norwegian individual championship twice: in 1945 in Oslo after play-offs and in 1958 in Ålesund .

For the Norwegian national team, he took part in four Chess Olympiads . In the chess Olympics 1939 in Buenos Aires , he played on top board and received for the best result of this board (8 points from 10 games) in the final group B a poncho from Catamarca . In the preliminary round he played a draw against José Raúl Capablanca in Buenos Aires . In 1952 in Helsinki Rojahn played on the fourth board, in 1956 in Moscow on the 2nd reserve board and in 1958 in Munich again on the 1st board. At the Chess Olympiad in 1958 he won against the Greek Alexandros Angos with a double rook sacrifice.

Rojahn played club chess for Tønsberg SK .

Its highest historical rating was 2468 in May 1940.
