from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ernst Schindler (* 1908 in Breslau ; † after 1970) was a German blacksmith and art blacksmith .

Life

According to the German art historian Hans Vollmer, Ernst Schindler received his training from Jaroslav Vonka in Breslau and was later based in Stuttgart-Stammheim . He mainly created grilles and gates and often used the flame cutting technique. Among other things, Schindler produced the typographic window grille for the memorial window designed by Gottfried Prölß at the Stuttgart Memorial Church . In a speech in 2007, Hermann Gradinger mentioned lattices in a cathedral that were made in the 1960s by "Ernst Schindler, an outstanding colleague from Stuttgart at the time and a member of the Association of Craftsmen" Baden-Württemberg Developing a modern solution with new technical means neglected important criteria such as proportion and rhythm ”, which is why these grids should now be replaced. Possibly it was the grilles for the sacrament chapel and the sacristy of the Mainz Cathedral from 1962/63. A grave cross made by Schindler in 1960 is in the collection of the Swiss National Museum . The cross of the wheel bears an image of the blessing Christ in the crossing.
