Ernst Wagner (physicist)

Ernst Wagner (born August 14, 1876 ; † 1928 ) was a German physicist. He was assistant to Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen .

Wagner first studied medicine in Würzburg and then physics in Berlin and Munich. In 1903 he received his doctorate from Röntgen. In 1904/05 he worked unpaid for Röntgen before becoming an assistant to Schmauss' successor in 1906. In 1909 he became a private lecturer and in 1915 an associate professor. He stayed with Röntgen until his retirement (1920). Although he thought he was skillful, intelligent and knowledgeable, he criticized a lack of determination and the fact that he did not publish enough. In 1922/23 he became a professor in Würzburg. In 1923 he set up an X-ray memory room there.

He dealt with X-rays and the absolute measurement of high pressures.
