Eros Riccio (born December 1, 1977 in Lucca , Tuscany) is an Italian correspondence chess player .

Since 2010 he has held the title of Grand Master in correspondence chess . In correspondence chess, he is vice-European champion and received the Olympic bronze with the Italian national team. He is the master of the online correspondence chess server FICGS and the author of a book on chess openings.

Chess career

Riccio won an Italian championship in email chess and three Italian championships in correspondence chess.

On the first board of the Italian national team, he took part in many correspondence chess tournaments. At the seventh European Championship he achieved silver with Italy and at the XVII. Olympiad with Italy bronze.

He is particularly successful in freestyle chess tournaments ( Advanced Chess variant). After winning the 8th PAL / CSS Freestyle Tournament, he won many tournaments of this orientation in which he participated (Welcome Freestyle Tournament, Christmas Freestyle Tournament, 1st IC Freestyle Masters, 1st Infinity Freestyle Tournament). Infinity Chess has developed a ranking for Centaurs, with Eros Riccio (Sephiroth) first at 2755 Elo points.

In 2009 he defeated "slide rule", the cluster of the Rybka team, a computer composed of 55 high-speed computers, and the centaur "Highendman", who was the only one before him who could defeat the Rybka clusters.

With FICGS he won the first and third Freestyle Chess Cup and, above all, 14 consecutive world championships.

Riccio was also active in local chess, but is listed as inactive. Most recently he played Elo rated games at a tournament in Montecatini Terme in July 2011 .
