Freestyle chess

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Freestyle chess is a form of chess in which the players can carry out analyzes using computer programs during the game .

There are two different forms, which are called Advanced Chess and Freestyle Chess in English . Advanced Chess is an idea by Garri Kasparow . It allows both opponents only a certain program (at the choice of the respective player), which runs for both players on computers of the same speed . Freestyle Chess is less restrictive and also allows playing in teams. Freestyle Chess was introduced in summer 2004 by Ingo Althöfer and Timo Klaustermeyer. The first freestyle blitz tournament they organized took place online in August 2004.

Tournaments

There are a number of centaur (human + computer) freestyle chess tournaments. For example, at the PAL / CSS tournament in Abu Dhabi, the winners in chronological order were ZackS (Steven Cramton and Stephen Zackery), Zorchamp ( Hydra (chess computer) ), Rajlich ( Vasik Rajlich ), Xakru (Jiří Dufek), Flying Saucers (Dagh Nielsen), Rajlich (Vasik Rajlich), Ibermax (Anson Williams) and Ultima ( Eros Riccio ).

Similar tournaments were organized by FICGS and Infinity Chess (Arno Nickel).

Infinity Chess has developed a ranking for Centaurs, with Eros Riccio (Sephiroth) first at 2755 Elo points.
