In medicine, excitation or excitation refers to a physiological excitation that is significantly increased beyond the normal reaction . Increased excitability ( hyperexcitability ) is seen as a concomitant symptom or even as a leading symptom in a number of nerve diseases , e.g. B .:
- for mental disorders such as schizophrenia , mania or agitating depression ;
- in some organic brain diseases ( organic psychosyndromes ) such as u. a. various dementia diseases .
Furthermore, pathological excitement occurs very often in the context of various poisonings .
