Reactivity (medicine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In physiology and pathophysiology , reactivity describes the abilities of biological tissue to react differently to environmental influences (for example in sensory physiology or as an immune response ) and the respective extent of these reactions.

In immunology , the term reactivity is also used as a synonym (e.g. as bronchial hyperreactivity in bronchial asthma ).

In radiation therapy and radiation biology , reactivity describes the sensitivity of tissues to ionizing radiation.

If for many patients the blood pressure measurement in the medical practice shows significantly higher values than with a resting measurement at home or with a long-term blood pressure measurement (ABPM), there is an individually pronounced reactivity (see white coat hypertension ).
