Ervad

An Ervad in Parish Zoroastrianism is a person who has received the first stage of priestly ordinations, which includes completing the Barashnum cleansing ritual . Part of the training is memorizing the Avestan texts used in the rituals . Physical integrity is required. In today's India, the candidates are between 9 and 13 years old. There, almost all candidates are trained in one of two boarding schools in Mumbai , where they attend a normal school in the mornings.

Consecration does not entitle the holder to carry out the Yasna liturgy, because a further Mobed consecration is a prerequisite for this .
